English Learning Secret 2

November 28, 2007

Here is is guys. Here’s the second English study secret.

STUDY AT HOME

English is not a scientific subject, it is an art subject. And with all art subjects the only way to learn it is to PRACTICE what you learn in the classroom outside the classroom.

If you go to class everyday and then simply go home and do not open your textbook again until you arrive at the next class – don’t expect to find yourself improving at English very quickly. Life. sadly is not like that.

To improve your level of English you MUST set aside 20 to 30 minutes everyday to practice what you learned. Look at the sentences, the structure and how the words fit together. And YES you must practice speaking it over and over again.

As a teacher of English for over 5 years I am amazed how students blame their institute or their teacher for not getting them to improve their English when they themselves have never opened their textbooks outside the classroom. If this is you, then you only have yourself to blame.

So, if you are really serious about improving your English, if you really do want to get a better score at TOEIC, speak English comfortably with foreigners or write better emails in English – put 20 or 30 minutes aside everyday for quiet English practice.

That’s all it takes.

Friday’s Comedy Clip

November 23, 2007

Hi guys, I hope your week has gone well and that you are ready and waiting for the weekend to begin.

This week’s comedy clip comes, once again, from the 1970’s. This time it features an amazingly funny guy called Benny Hill.

Benny Hill’s comedy was often silent (as this clip is … nearly). SO sit back and relax and enjoy one of the funniest comedians in British comedy history.

Also, for those of you who like to read in English, here’s a link to Jeremy Clarkson’s (mentioned here before) weekly newspaper column. It might be a little difficult for all of you, but if you do like to read in English and you like to learn new idioms, then this is the guy for you :-) Click here to view

Don’t forget to get registered for next month’s classes. Many of our classes fill up very quickly, so get yourself registered early so that you do not miss out on a fantastic opportunity to learn REAL English for everyday use.

Have a great weekend every one and see you all next week :-)

English Study Secrets

November 21, 2007

Starting this week, we will be posting an English study “secret”

each week to help all our wonderful students to learn English.

There are many little ’secrets’

to learning English (or anything really) and on this blog we shall reveal them. So here is the first secret is here :-

DON”T QUIT

Here’s the bad news. There is no way on earth that you will learn English if you quit. Magic may exist, but you will never learn anything if you quit. Too many students think that they will learn to speak English in 3 months or less by attending a language institute. I am sorry to tell you, but this is simply not possible.

You need to commit yourself to 12 months of consistent, uninterrupted learning. If you cannot commit to 12 months, then wait until you can.

Learning English in a language institute is expensive. – Why waste your money if you quit before you can speak English?

So guys. DON’T QUIT It will get hard, it may even get boring, but it’s only 12 months. That’s all you need.
